Hi,
I don't know if people from Earlham have been getting the messages, but ISCA is meeting with Bayh on Thurs. April 16 in Indy. Do you know if anyone from Earlham is interested in going?
If any Earlham People want to go. (I'm an alum EC2001)
Please come to an early evening discussion on climate change research and policy engagement in Indiana, the region, and federally with the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).
Feel free to pass this announcement to other graduate and undergraduate students you know who might be interested.
STEW320, 5 to 6:30 pm, November 13th, 2008
Come enjoy an informal conversation together with representatives from UCS! We'll hear more about what UCS is up to these days and how they see the federal policy scene evolving in light of the new administration, including a chat about how students and student organizations can effectively influence the policy debate.
Especially in the context of the election, Indiana is shaping up to be a very important state, with both IN senators and five representatives considered to be influential members on potential climate or other emissions-reducing legislation. This is an opportune moment for Indiana students to discuss these issues.
We can also explore non-profit organizations as a career option and what opportunities might be available.
The Union of Concerned Scientists is a leading science-based nonprofit working for a healthy environment and a safer world. UCS combines independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and consumer choices.
Nancy Cole, Director of Climate Outreach and Jean Sideris, Climate Outreach Specialist, will be moderating the discussion.
